Rules and Procedures

Membership Rules

  1. Potential Members
    1. Anyone who would like to be an LIEG member must first contact LIEG prior to attending a meeting. Click here to email us.
    2. Current LIEG members have “category exclusivity,” meaning that there can not be more than one person per business category. For example, if LIEG already has a member that provides printing services, someone who provides the same service can NOT attend a regular LIEG meeting. However, that person can attend an LIEG public event.
    3. See How To Become A Member (Section 3 below)
  2. Public Events - Potential Members and Current Members
    1. These events are open to the public.
    2. Category exclusivity does NOT apply to these events.
  3. How To Become A Member
    1. You must attend two LIEG meetings. NOTE: LIEG public events do not count as meeting the attendance requirement.
    2. You must meet with at least:
      1. One membership committee member (See Committee Listings)
      2. One board member (See About)
      3. One regular LIEG member (See Our Members)
    3. LIEG dues are $150 per year.

  4. Guidelines for Membership
    1. Meeting Information: Regular LIEG meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month, unless prior notification is provided. All meetings will begin promptly at 6:15 pm and end no later than 8:15 pm. Please arrive early to meet and greet.
    2. Attendance Commitment: All members are required to make a commitment to attend the monthly meetings. Members will endeavor to miss no more than 2 meetings per year with the exception of certain extenuating circumstances. The Membership Chair must be notified by the member so the Board can determine whether to approve these circumstances. Failure to attend two (2) meetings without prior notification to the LIEG Membership Chair or his/her designated proxy and Board approval will result in expulsion from the group upon unapproved absence from a 3rd meeting in that year.
    3. LIEG Involvement: All members are required to volunteer for a specific LIEG activity. Activities include chairing an event, running a specific committee, participating on a committee or board membership. Failure to fulfill this is grounds for expulsion or non-renewal of membership. A list of committees will be distributed at the January meeting and be available upon request thereafter. Elections for the executive board will be held at the November monthly meeting. An officer’s term will start the following January and end the following December.
    4. Guests: All members are required to bring a minimum of 5 guests per calendar year. Attendance can be at either the regular monthly meeting, or an LIEG special event or a combination of the two. Guests enable us to grow the group and bring new opportunities and business knowledge to all members. Prospective members (guests) must attend two (2) regular monthly meetings and must meet with at least three (3) current members. All prospective members are subject to review by the membership committee. The committee screens prospective members for conflicts and other criteria. Please notify the Membership Chairperson in advance when you will be having a guest attend a meeting.
    5. House Calls“: Members are required to have at least one specific appointment with another member each month. Optimally, the appointment should be in-person, however, with consideration for geography and overloaded calendars, a telephone appointment will suffice.
    6. Email: Email is the primary means of communication between LIEG members. It is important that you have the ability to send and receive emails from and to fellow members. Response time to members’ emails must be done on a timely basis. Failure to regularly be able to respond to emails on a timely basis will be considered as a lack of involvement in LIEG.

The LIEG Members-Only Discussion List

  1. What Is the LIEG Members-Only Discussion List?
    1. The LIEG Discussion List, is available only to LIEG members. The mailing list allows a member to send an email to the entire membership by sending a single email to the LIEG Discussion List. Everyone else in LIEG receives that email and can respond by simply clicking on “reply.” That reply is again sent to the entire membership. In this way, all LIEG members can easily communicate with the entire membership.
  2. How To Use The Members-Only Discussion List
    1. Sending a message to the membership.
      1. Send an email to:
        members@lieg.org
      2. The discussion list software will automatically resend the email to the entire LIEG membership.
    2. Viewing old messages.
      1. To view old messages go to this page
