Rules & Procedures

“Rules & Procedures” has the following sections:

Membership Rules

  1. Potential Members
    1. Anyone who would like to be an LIEG member must first contact LIEG prior to attending a meeting. Click here to email us.
    2. Current LIEG members have “category exclusivity,” meaning that there can not be more than one person per business category. For example, if LIEG already has a member that provides printing services, someone who provides the same service can NOT attend a regular LIEG meeting. However, that person can attend an LIEG public event.
    3. See How To Become A Member (Section 3 below)
  2. Public Events - Potential Members and Current Members
    1. These events are open to the public.
    2. Category exclusivity does NOT apply to these events.
  3. How To Become A Member
    1. You must attend two LIEG meetings. NOTE: LIEG public events do not count as meeting the attendance requirement.
    2. You must meet with at least:
      1. One membership committee member (See Committee Listings)
      2. One board member (See About)
      3. One regular LIEG member (See Our Members)
    3. LIEG dues are $150 per year.
  4. You’ve Paid Your LIEG Dues. Now What?
    1. BIOGRAPHY: Email a biography with a photo (if you have one) for posting on the LIEG website to one of the website committee members. Please let the committee member know which category you would like to be listed under.
    2. COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP: Select a committee you would like to be on and send an email to that committee’s chairperson. Please keep in mind that some committees have a sufficient number of members so you may be asked to join a different committee.
    3. ONE-ON-ONE MEETINGS: Start to meet one-on-one with LIEG members to get to know their businesses and for them to get to know yours.
    4. DISCUSSION GROUP: Send an email to one of the website committee members and tell them which email address you would like to use for the discussion group mailings.

The LIEG Members-Only Discussion List

  1. What Is the LIEG Members-Only Discussion List?
    1. The LIEG Discussion List, is available only to LIEG members. The mailing list allows a member to send an email to the entire membership by sending a single email to the LIEG Discussion List. Everyone else in LIEG receives that email and can respond by simply clicking on “reply.” That reply is again sent to the entire membership. In this way, all LIEG members can easily communicate with the entire membership.
  2. How To Use The Members-Only Discussion List
    1. Sending a message to the membership.
      1. Send an email to:
        LIEG
      2. The discussion list software will automatically resend the email to the entire LIEG membership.
    2. Searching for an old message.
      1. All messages sent to the discussion list are automatically archived and are viewable only by LIEG members.
      2. To view old messages go to this page
        List archive
and sign in with your email address and password.
        Log in archive
      3. After logging in you will see a page like the following:
        List archive
      4. Clicking on “View by Thread” will give you something like the following:
        Archive
      5. If you have forgotten your password, go to this page
        List
and scroll to the bottom. You will then be able to retrieve a copy of your password by entering your email address in the box provided and clicking on the button “Unsubscribe or edit options.”
  3. Problems With The Discussion List
    1. The most common problem is receiving a bounce message. You will receive a bounce message if you do any of the following:
      1. Sending an email from an unauthorized email address. When you were added to the discussion list the webmaster used the email address your_name@yourcompany.com. However, you tried to send an email from your personal email address. The system does not recognize the address and will bounce back your message.
      2. Sending an email with a very large attachment. It’s preferable not to send an email with any attachments. However, if you need to send an attachment, please keep it under five megabytes in size.
    2. If you believe you should not have gotten a bounce message, please forward a copy of the message you were trying to send, along with any attachments, to:
      Jeff Siegel - Net@Work
